He Loves Reading Now

JoshuaJoshua Prinsloo was in the last term of Grade 1 when I realised he had a problem, his friends were reading three books and he only a chapter of four pages. He swopped his b and d, p and q, m and w. It was a fight to get him to read, and he never wanted to read even for homework, he would leave it for last and then play ‘tired’. I took him to Edublox Elarduspark, were he was tested on a Level 2 for reading and was supposed to be reading on a Level 5 or 6.

By the middle of 2015 Joshua was eager to read his school books. He finished a book a day and it was the first homework he wanted to do. He loves reading now and will read a book a night without a fight, sometimes he will even pick up a book without being asked and read it. He no longer swops his b and d, p and q, m and w anymore. He reads with confidence and even his concentration has improved, he can recall and retell what he has read.

I would like to continue working on his confidence and reading comprehension and let him discover the amazing world of reading – to read with increasing fluency and speed, to describe the main idea and details.
