Read, Learn and Achieve

Edublox Classes in VereenigingThis advertorial was published in the Vaalweekblad in December 2009:

Good reading skills are the foundation of a successful education.

Is your child struggling academically? Does he battle with reading or is his concentration poor? Edublox reading and learning clinic has a dynamic solution that tackles and corrects the cause of learning problems, not just the symptoms.

Reading is a fundamental skill that children must acquire. They learn to read in order to read to learn. Good reading skills, including spelling and writing, form the foundation of good academic achievement, and later for a successful working career. When a child battles with reading, he really struggles at school and may suffer emotionally.

Educationalist and author Susan du Plessis launched the first Edublox “Reading and Learning” Clinic in Pretoria in 2007. The programme and techniques applied are a result of intensive research about learning over a 30 year period.

“Our methods work because they are based on universal learning principles and not on individual learning styles,” explains Susan.

“The techniques are based on what all people have in common and that is why we are able to make a dramatic difference to the reading and learning abilities in all learners.”

January 2010 sees the opening of the Vaal Triangle’s own Edublox Reading and Learning Clinic in Vereeniging. For the past 15 years Marietha Maré has helped many children reach their potential and sees the franchise as a positive step forward.

“Parents just don’t know where to get help for their children,” says franchisee Marietha.

“At the clinic we are result-driven and parents get great value for the money they invest in their child’s future.”

The main focus at Edublox is on improving your child’s learning ability, especially reading, so that he can experience the pleasure of achievement. A child must have a good vocabulary and an understanding of the language he needs to read. Skills that underlie reading like concentration, perception, memory and logical thinking are practised and developed at the clinic.

“When Andreas, a Grade 1 learner, came to me he was unable to sit still for more than a few moments and was really struggling in class,” recalls Marietha. “Within the year his latest results are outstanding and a testament to the programme’s success.”

The Edublox head office carefully monitors all work done at the clinics. A computerised reporting system tracks the progress of each learner and the quality of the classes presented are evaluated through an internet video camera.
