Studies on His Own, Understands What He Reads, Feels Positive about Himself

In Grade R Adriaan went for speech therapy, to assist in the correct pronunciation of certain letters. The therapist picked up that there were other deficits that had to addressed. Adriaan received occupational therapy throughout his Grade 1 year. He made good progress and we thought he was on his way to be a happy scholar.  But, mid Grade 2, my child was struggling so much that that the school asked us to rather move him to a smaller, more intimate school. This helped a lot, but after three years, my child’s social and emotional development was so far behind, due to him not being with children his own age and not being able to play. (The school was small; they could not play, they only sat under the tree during break times.)

I had to move my child, but how was he going to cope when he needed to go to high school?

Thus, I moved him back to his old school at the beginning Grade 6, with the understanding that we were going to work hard. After the first term, Adriaan failed maths and was struggling with all his other subjects.

I heard about Edublox and took him for an assessment in March 2015. I was so glad to hear they could help. If only I had known four years back, I would have sent him then.

Regular classes in the week and an intensive holiday program ensured that he passed Grade 6 with an excellent score. He continued with Edublox classes throughout this year (Grade 7) and is getting ready for the November exams. He works hard and with the help he received from Edublox, he is studying on his own, understands what he reads and feels more competent and positive about himself.

Adriaan has a long way to go through high school, but I believe with his determination and the help from Edublox he’ll be fine.

Thinking back, I cannot believe the school and therapists said that he would never be able to cope in a large school.

Thank you Edublox, for all your love and care for my child and giving him hope to continue learning.
