Astonished and “Over the Moon” by the Results

Mahlogonolo is a cheerful and caring little boy. He is an active child and happy to engage in any activity. He likes playing with his peers and being competitive and has even started participating in aerobics at his new school.

In 2021, he started Grade 1 and seemed to adapt without major challenges, passing all his subjects in the first term. When I enquired about Mahlogonolo’s academic development, his teacher told me he was concerned about his pace, although he couldn’t exactly tell me what I must do to assist him. During the second term, his English mark dropped drastically, causing him to fail the term.

I was really worried about his performance, especially since no performance issues were raised during the term. I also noticed he had difficulty concentrating and that his reading and writing were slow. During the first week of the third term, I could see signs of frustration in my child because he was grouped with learners who didn’t perform well. It was also during the Covid-19 lockdown, and he went to school either twice or thrice a week. No remedial sessions were offered to him, and his self-esteem and confidence were clearly being affected.

I had a dire need to help my child and started searching the internet for facilities around Polokwane that could support his learning needs. That was when I discovered Edublox. I read some of the stories of parents whose children’s learning difficulties were more complex and was inspired.

Although I was warned it is unlikely to see drastic improvements very quickly, we were astonished. Mahlogonolo adapted to Edublox with ease, enjoyed his sessions and even managed to make new friends. His English mark significantly improved, and he started regaining his confidence. At the end of the year, he was promoted to Grade 2. His school class teacher was happy about his performance and acknowledged that Edublox positively impacted the learning areas he had problems with.

Mahlogonolo continues to perform very well in Grade 2 because of the help he receives at Edublox. He can now read his English homework with understanding, and anything he comes across, such as the hymn books at church, pamphlets on the streets, and his reading books at home. He now even corrects me when I don’t pronounce words correctly and can do his homework independently with little assistance!

As a parent, I can say what Edublox did for my child fits with the principle of “getting the best value for money,” and I am over the moon. I really advise parents of children who need support with their learning to try it. This will be a decision they never regret.
